WASHINGTON - The last home date of the 2023-24 season has American University wrestling honoring its seniors and alumni as the Eagles host Queens University and Lindenwood on Sunday, Feb. 18 in Bender Arena. The duals are set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.

Senior Day / Alumni Day

• At 1 p.m. prior to the first dual on Sunday, the Eagles will honor five who are graduating this season. The honorees are Mervin Mancia, Jack Nies, Isaac Righter, Ethan Szerencsits and Ryan Zimmerman.
• After the fourth bout against Queens, AU will bring out all alumni in attendance to recognize them on the mat.

• The Eagles are meeting both Queens and Lindenwood for the first time in program history.

What to Know about American

• The Eagles are 6-12 and looking to get a healthy lineup back on the mat after struggling with injuries for the past few weeks. Starters Jack Maida (125), Raymond Lopez (133), Caleb Campos (165) and Connor Bourne (184) have all been out for part or most of the season. Maida, Lopez and Bourne are all probable to wrestle this weekend.
• Two Eagles remain ranked in the second release of NCAA Coaches' Rankings announced on February 15. Junior Jack Maida (12-1) is 28th at 125 pounds, and grad student Will Jarrell (14-11) is 33rd at heavyweight.
• Both Jarrell (HWT) and freshman Kaden Milheim (157) went 2-0 when the Eagles hosted Drexel and Morgan State on Feb. 4.
• Maida is 12-1 at 125 this season, down from 133 last year, and upset #4 Eddie Ventresca of fifth-ranked Virginia Tech as well as #15 Braxton Brown of Maryland. He has wrestled on just two dates since Nov. 21, beating #32 Tristan Lujan of Michigan State on Jan. 5 and going 2-1 at the Chippewa Challenge on Jan. 14.
• Junior Maximilian Leete has five pins this season, and his 23 career pins are ranked seventh all-time at American. Most recently, he pinned Morgan State's Kevin Lopez in 1:18 on February 4.
• American is coming off a historic turnaround season in which the Eagles finished 8-12 in dual meets in 2022-23 and racked up seven more wins than in a 1-12 finish the year before.
