WASHINGTON – The American University men's basketball team will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night as it travels to Annapolis, Md., for a 7 p.m. matchup with Navy.

What to Know About American

• Missing four of its seven leading scorers with injuries, American led by as many as 13 points in the second half at Holy Cross but fell short after the Crusaders made four free throws on the final possession of the game to win, 58-56.
• Senior Matt Rogers leads AU and ranks fourth in the Patriot League with 15.7 points per game, adding 6.4 rebounds per game (fifth in Patriot League). Rogers has reached double-figures scoring in all but three games played this season. He is averaging 7.1 rebounds over AU's last seven games.
• Junior Elijah Stephens leads AU and ranks second in the Patriot League with 5.2 assists per game. His assist/turnover ratio of 2.2 ranks fourth in the League, and his 12.2 points per game rank 10th in the League. Stephens missed the Loyola Maryland and Holy Cross games with an injury.
• American has made 10 or more three-pointers 11 times this season. The Eagles are 9-2 in games where they reach double-digit makes from three. AU leads the Patriot League with 9.2 threes per game.
• First-year head coach Duane Simpkins has 13 career victories and has brought a new energy to the program. American has already matched its Patriot League win total from last season with six regular season conference games remaining.

Scouting the Midshipmen

• Navy enters Wednesday's game with an 8-15 record, having won four of its 12 Patriot League contests.
• In its last game, Navy fell on the road to Army, a 69-67 overtime contest, to split the season series with its rival.
• The Midshipmen have lost six games in a row. Navy's last win came on Jan. 20, when it defeated Army at home, 57-53.
• Sophomore Austin Benigni leads the Mids and ranks third in the Patriot League with 16.0 points per game. He ranks fourth in the League with 3.9 assists per game.
• Fellow sophomore Donovan Draper leads the Patriot League with 9.3 rebounds per game (37th nationally). His 2.2 steals per game lead the League, and he adds 9.7 points per game.
• Navy leads the Patriot League with 12.1 offensive rebounds per game and 7.83 steals per game. Its turnover differential of 4.7 leads the League by a wide margin.
• Head coach Ed DeChellis is in his 13th season at Navy. He has coached more games than any active Patriot League coach and was named Patriot League Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2022.
