Men's Basketball's Colin Smalls Named Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON - After a career performance that included one thrilling shot, grad student Colin Smalls of American University men's basketball has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 2-8. Smalls led the Eagles to their fifth straight victory as they beat local rival George Washington in overtime on Dec. 4.

Smalls scored a career-high 26 points in the 81-71 overtime win, and made a three-pointer with 1.2 seconds in regulation to force OT. He hit 5-of-7 from long range overall, tying his career-high three-point makes in a game. Smalls played for 41 minutes in the contest, and added two assists and two steals to his stat line.

The Eagles have some time off before their next game, at 7 p.m. contest at Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia. AU will not return to Bender Arena until December 29 against UMBC.
