LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the squad's second game in a row in the Patriot League Tournament, the American University men's soccer team battled through regulation and both overtime periods before the results needed to be decided by a penalty shootout. In their semifinal matchup against the Bison, the Eagles fell, 1-1 (6-5), in penalty kicks.

How It Happened
- The Bison went ahead early in the 18th minute on a penalty kick from Jack Lucas that soared past an outstretched Matthew Tibbetts who guessed right but couldn't quite get a hand on it to keep it out.
- AU's best chance in the first half came in the 38th minute when Sebastian Garces took a free kick right at the edge of the Eagles' attacking third. Bucknell's keeper, Freddie Lapworth, dealt with the double-bounced low ball to maintain the 1-0 lead for the Bison.
- In the second half, shots on Bucknell's goal poured in, AU holding a 6-4 advantage in the second half alone.
- An equalizer came in the 69th minute from a header put over Lapworth in goal by Hershey thanks to a quick give from Jonah Fogel to Palomo who sent the ball sailing into the box to Hershey.
- Nothing more came for either team in the dying embers of the second half, even with a dangerous flick from Bucknell in the final two minutes of regulation, and the game went to overtime with the teams level, 1-all.
- As the first overtime period wound down, Tibbetts had a heroic diving save to keep AU and Bucknell level in the 98th minute.
- It wouldn't be determined in overtime though, and the game went to penalties. This was the second time in two games that the Eagles faced down a penalty shootout.
- In the eighth round of penalties, the Bison claimed the win and advanced to the Patriot League Championship on a 6-5 shootout advantage.
