Men's Soccer's Sam Hershey Named Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON - Scoring two goals in two games for American University men's soccer, senior Sam Hershey helped the Eagles advance to the Patriot League Tournament semifinals and has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts. AU won 3-1 at Navy in its final regular season game, and tied Loyola Maryland 2-2 in a PL quarterfinal before advancing on penalty kicks.

Hershey converted on a penalty kick opportunity for American in a 3-1 win at Navy that clinched the No. 3 seed for the Eagles in the postseason. With AU tied 1-1 against Loyola Maryland, Hershey gave the Eagles a lead in the 66th minute. He later set the tone in the shootout, making AU's first penalty kick.

The No. 3 seed Eagles will now travel to No. 2 seed Bucknell for a 6 p.m. PL semifinal on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
