Women's Soccer Shut Out by Lafayette

BOYDS, Md. – The American University women's soccer team fell to Lafayette, 3-0, on Saturday after the Leopards scored two first-half goals and struck quickly in the second half for a third goal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lafayette struck first in the 34th minute with a goal from Sofia Ruggiero, as the Leopards took a 1-0 lead.
  • Lafayette scored again quickly, as Ruggiero scored yet another unassisted goal to give Lafayette a 2-0 lead in the 42nd minute.
  • At halftime, American had six shots, with five on target, but none of them found the net as the Leopards led, 2-0.
  • It did not take long for Lafayette to make it 3-0 in the second half, as Katrina Santelli scored for the Leopards.
  • American controlled possession for most of the rest of the game, shooting the ball 14 times in the second half, but the Eagles were unable to break through.
