BOYDS, Md. – Despite outshooting Colgate 22 to nine on Saturday afternoon, the American University women's soccer team fell to the Raiders on Senior Day, 3-1.
 
QUICK NOTABLES

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Early in the game, senior Jennifer McGuire created a one-on-one chance, but her shot was saved by Colgate in the 10th minute.
• In the 22nd minute, sophomore Bella Vozar had a chance from the middle of the box, but her shot ricocheted off the crossbar.
• Late in the half, Colgate capitalized on a mistake from American's back line to make it 1-0 on a goal from Ari Bezanson in the 43rd minute.
• American outshot Colgate 10-5 but trailed at halftime.
• It did not take long for American to level the score, as a corner kick from McGuire found the head of Klingensmith, who scored her first career goal in the first minute of the second half.
• Colgate retook the lead in the 76th minute on another goal from Bezanson.
• The Raiders scored again in the 83rd minute, as Bianca Howitt found the back of the net.
