WASHINGTON - For her efforts in helping lead American University women's basketball to a 2-0 start in Patriot League play, sophomore Laura Nogues has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 1-6. The Eagles earned a road win at Lehigh and a home win against Bucknell to start the conference season.

Nogues averaged 12.5 points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds per game over the two contests. In a 68-65 win at Lehigh, she scored a team and career-high 16 points and grabbed a career-high five steals. She followed it up with nine points and five assists in the Eagles' 58-47 win over Bucknell on Jan. 5.

American will play its next game at home against Boston University on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 11:30 a.m. in Bender Arena.
