WASHINGTON -- The American University men's basketball team fell short to three-time defending Patriot League champions Colgate on Saturday, 73-54. Senior
Matt Rogers led all scorers with 19 points. Colgate knocked down 45 percent of its three-point attempts, making 9-of-20, to outpace AU's 5-of-19 for the game.

- Rogers led the Eagles in scoring with 19 points and 5 boards, as he eclipsed 500 career rebounds at AU.
- Sophomore Jermaine Ballisager Webb went 4-of-5 from the field to be the second Eagle in double figures with 10 points. He led the team in rebounds with eight, while also picking up a block.

First Half
- American held Colgate scoreless for more than three minutes to start the game. The Eagles led 7-2 when Colgate got on the board for the first time with 16:41 left in the half.
- With Colgate on a run, sophomore Geoff Sprouse hit a three-pointer, followed by a Lorenzo Donadio layup, to draw American within one point with 11 minutes to play in the half.
- Colgate led by 6 at the six-minute mark, but Stephens found Rogers for a wide-open three-pointer to cut the Raiders' lead to 3 at the 5:30 mark.
- Colgate went on a 9-2 run over a three-minute stretch to expand their lead to 10 with 2:29 to play in the half.
- Colgate made more than 48 percent of its shots in the opening half, compared to 41 percent from American.
- Rogers led the Eagles in scoring for the half with 9 points, adding 3 assists. Senior Lincoln Ball pulled down 4 rebounds to lead the team.

Second Half
- Colgate held AU scoreless for more than five and a half minutes to start the half before a Colin Smalls three-pointer ended a nearly eight-minute scoreless drought dating back to the first half. Colgate led 44-29 at the 14:26 mark.
- Ballisager Webb provided a pair of back-to-back and-ones, converting the free throw on both occasions, to pull American within 9 at the 11:55 mark.
- Rogers also converted an and-one to keep AU in the game, trailing 51-38 with 9:48 remaining.
- With Colgate continuing to make threes at a fast pace, Sprouse made a three of his own, but Colgate answered, leading 64-45 with 6:21 left.
- Colgate made 6-of-9 threes in the second half compared to 3-of-11 for the Eagles.
