Bucknell’s First-Half Goal Downs Women’s Soccer

LEWISBURG, Pa. – After giving up a goal the 26th minute, American University women's soccer could not find the equalizer as the Eagles dropped their first Patriot League road test of the season, 1-0, to the Bucknell Bison.
 
QUICK NOTABLES HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore Morissa Lambert had the first shot of the game for American in the fifth minute but her shot went wide, missing a chance to put the Eagles in the lead early in the game.
  • The Bison dominated on offense for most of the first half, finding the back of the net in the 26th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Sophomore Alyssa Giroux had a good chance to net the equalizer with 10 minutes to play in the first half, but her shot hit the top of the crossbar to keep the Bison in the lead heading into halftime.
  • Oliver had the Eagles' first shot on goal in the second half, looking to put the Eagles on the board but Bucknell's keeper was there to make the save.
  • Sophomore Avery Klingensmith and graduate student Ashley Molz each had a chance in the final minutes to net the late equalizer, but neither could find the back of the net as time expired.
