WASHINGTON – After being down by three at halftime, it was an explosive three-goal second half by the Eagles that helped American University women's soccer battle back to a draw with the George Washington University Revolutionaries Sunday afternoon. Freshman
Lailah Stewart recorded a goal and an assist in the tie, while sophomore
Alyssa Giroux notched two goals just six minutes apart.

- Stewart's goal was her first collegiate goal. Her assist was also her first collegiate assist.
- Giroux's goals were the first of her collegiate career.
- Sunday's draw was the second consecutive draw between the Eagles and Revolutionaries. The two squads battled to a scoreless draw last season at Reeves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- George Washington got on the board quickly, finding the back of the net twice in the first eight minutes of action to take a 2-0 lead.
- Giroux and junior Brooke Steel both had good chances to find the back of the net for American in the 20th minute, but both of their shots were saved by George Washington's goalkeeper.
- The Revolutionaries pushed their lead out to three, finding the back of the net in the 26th minute to take a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
- Stewart found the back of the net for the Eagles in the 53rd minute to start to chip away at the home team's lead.
- The Eagles continued to break through the Revolutionaries defense, taking shot after shot, until Giroux found the back the net in the 80th minute to pull American within one.
- It was Giroux again, six minutes later, who netted the equalizer to complete the comeback and help American earn the 3-3 draw.
