COLLEGE PARK, Md. – On theme for the weekend, the American University field hockey team found themselves waiting through an hour-long weather delay before they could start their Sunday afternoon game against Miami (Ohio). Most of the game, 40 minutes, would be played at a 1-all draw, until the 57th minute of the contest when the RedHawks scored and took the 2-1 victory over the Eagles.
QUOTES FROM COACH JENNINGS
"Today's match was a hard fought contest between two good teams," said head coach
Steve Jennings. "Miami has excellent players and a style that is challenging to play against. Congratulations to them and their staff.
"In the end, the match was decided on small details, and in that area, we were not good enough today. Overall, we continue to grow in so many ways, but we still have a lot of lessons to learn.
"Our strength of schedule will continue to provide us with opportunities to demonstrate progress and we can't wait to begin Patriot League play next weekend."
