BOSTON, Mass. – In a tight game for all 40 minutes in Case Gym, the American University men's basketball team (15-9, 7-6 PL) could not shut down the Boston University Terriers (12-14, 5-8 PL) offense as the Eagles fell, 60-54, Wednesday night. The Eagles were led by junior
Matt Rogers with 14 points as American dropped its second meeting of the season with Boston U. to split the regular season series.

- The Eagles have now split the season series with all the teams they have already played twice this season. They have yet to sweep a league opponent.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two sides traded fouls to start the game and put the score at 2-2 early, before a three-point basket from Rogers gave American a 5-2 lead.
- The Terriers went on a 6-0 run to take an 8-5 lead but a layup from sophomore Elijah Stephens and two extra shots from Knotek put American back in the lead, 9-8.
- The two sides traded the lead until Boston U. was able to jump out and take a 24-21 lead heading into halftime.
- American came out of the half and took a 26-24 lead off a layup from Rogers and a three-point shot from freshman Geoff Sprouse.
- The Terriers retook the lead and from there, the two sides continued to trade who was in front until with 10:44 left to play, Boston U. jumped out, 37-32.
- The Eagles started to fight their way back as senior Jaxon Knotek drew a foul and headed to the line for two. He made both extra shots to pull American within four, 37-34. Rogers then followed up Knotek's shots with an and one to even the score 37-37.
- Sophomore Elijah Stephens then put in a layup to give American a two-point lead and less than a minute later, the Eagles jumped out to a 41-39 lead.
- Three-straight three pointers from Boston U. helped put the Terriers back in front, putting the score at 51-46 in favor of the home team.
- American battled back to pull within four, 56-52, with under 30 seconds to play but the Terriers were able to maintain control for the rest of the game and secure the 60-54 win.

- Sprouse led the team in rebounds with six while Stephens led the Eagles in assists with five and steals with three.
