Men’s Basketball Hosts Navy on Wednesday for Final Regular Season Home Game

WedneWASHINGTON –American University men's basketball (15-12, 7-9 PL) welcomes Navy (17-11, 10-6 PL) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for the second matchup between the two teams this season. The Eagles are looking to snap its four-game skid and complete the season series sweep of the Midshipmen after defeating the Mids earlier this season in Annapolis. Wednesday game is presented by official game sponsor AU Kogod School of Business.

  • Rogers leads American in scoring (13.4 points per game), while O'Neil leads in rebounds (6.4 per game) and blocks (1.6 per game).
  • As a team, American is second in the league in field goal percentage (49.2 percent), second in blocks (3.78 per game) and third in steals (7.37 per game).
  • With two games left in the regular season and the Patriot League Tournament starting next week, the Eagles are currently in a tie for fifth in the league standings with Lafayette and Holy Cross.
  • O'Neil recorded one block in Saturday's game moving his career total to 85 and season total to 40. His is now six away from tying Patrick Doctor for ninth all-time career blocks in AU's record book.

  • Navy enters Wednesday's game with a 17-11 overall record and a 10-6 mark in Patriot League play. The Midshipmen have won their last six games.
  • Navy is coming off a 65-53 win over Loyola Maryland on Saturday. Senior Daniel Deavers led the Midshipmen with 19 points and eight rebounds. He was named the Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday marking his second league award in three weeks and Navy's third-straight weekly accolade.
  • Deavers leads Navy in scoring (13.2 points per game), rebounds (6.8 per game) and assists (2.8 per game). Senior Tyler Nelson leads in blocks (0.9 per game) and is tied with senior Patrick Dorsey for the team lead in steals (1.1 per game).
  • Navy has secured a first-round bye in the 2023 Patriot League Tournament.
  • Navy is led by head coach Ed DeChellis in his 12th season at the head of the program.
