WASHINGTON – Coming off a 10-day break, American Women's Basketball faces UMBC. This will be the last home game for the Eagles in 2023, with both teams searching for their third win of the season.

• This will be the twenty-second matchup between the two sides, with American leading the Retrievers 15-6 in a series that dates to 1990. 
• American last played UMBC in 2022, where the Eagles defeated the Retrievers 70-68 on the road.  
• Last season's game against UMBC was Head Coach Tiffany Coll's first win with the Eagles. UMBC is Coll's alma mater. 
• In that game, Emily Johns led the charge for AU. The forward sank a career-high 25 points, including the game-winning three pointer. 
• Riley DeRubbo was American's second-highest scorer with a career high of 18 points, while Ivy Bales also claimed a career high 14 points in the game, going 4-4 from the charity stripe, and Kayla Henning led the Eagles in rebounding with nine boards.  

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN  

• American's loss to Towson on December 10th did not come without its positives. The game saw two Eagles' reach double figures in scoring, and senior Lauren Stack led the team with 13 points for her fourth 10+ point game of the season.
• The rotation of players has been crucial for the Eagles this season, with the bench scoring 23 points in the tight loss to Towson.
• Wednesday's matchup is the third of a three-game homestand for American, with UMBC providing the chance for the Eagles' second home win of the season.
• American shot nearly 10% above average on field goals against Towson, draining 50% from the floor on 48 attempts. However, the Tigers gained their advantage by going 17-20 from the charity stripe and turning the ball over just eight times to AU's 21.
• UMBC will be the second-to-last contest before conference play, with the Eagles rounding out their out-of-league campaign against Howard on December 30th just across town.  

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT UMBC  

• Senior Anna Blount enters the matchup against the Eagles searching for her seventh consecutive game with 10+ points, posting 12 against Morgan State in the Retrievers' last game.
• Graduate student Jaliena Sanchez continues to provide a spark for UMBC, leading the team in minutes and scoring with 14 points in the Retrievers' recent loss to Morgan State.
• December provided the largest win of the season for UMBC against Bryant and Stratton College, with five Retrievers posting double digits in a 92-55 victory.
• Wednesday's game against the Eagles will round out travel for UMBC in 2023, heading home to take on St. Francis University on December 29th.
• The Retrievers come to Washington attempting to break a five-game losing streak to the Eagles, with their last win against American coming in 2015.
