WASHINGTON - In a pair of road games for American University men's basketball, junior
Elijah Stephens averaged 17 points per game, four rebounds per game and four assists per game as the Eagles went 1-1 and earned their first road win of the season. For his efforts, Stephens was named the
Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 4-10.
Stephens led American with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field in a loss at Saint Joseph's on Dec. 6, also dishing four assists. In AU's first road win, a 77-69 decision at VMI on Dec. 9, Stephens scored a season-high 18 points while tying his career high of five rebounds and once again adding four assists. For the week, he hit 59 percent of his field-goal attempts and averaged 32 minutes played per contest.Â
The Eagles will take close to two weeks off before traveling to Virginia Tech for a 5 p.m. contest on Thursday, Dec. 21.
