HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lafayette had the first chance of the game in the 10th minute, but the Leopards' first shot was saved by sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts and the second was just off target.
- Baer found the back of the net for American in the 29th minute, off an assist from Matei, to put the Eagles up 1-0.
- Baer's goal was the Eagles only shot of the half, but it was enough to keep American in the lead heading into halftime.
- Lafayette evened the score in the 51st minute.
- Down a man after a red card was given to the Eagles, Matei found the back of the net for American in the 60th minute to put American back in font.
- The Leopards evened the score once again in the 75th minute.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts made a series of great saves with under three minutes to go to keep the game tied at two sending the game into overtime.
- Neither team found the back of the net in the two overtime periods, sending the game into penalty kicks.
- Lafayette won the penalty kick shootout to earn the quarterfinal win and advance to the semifinals.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Lafayette held the shots advantage, 22-2, and the shots on goal advantage 10-2. The Eagles two lone shots of the game resulted in their two goals.
