WASHINGTON - After averaging 18.5 points per game in a pair of wins for American University men's basketball, sophomore
Geoff Sprouse has been named the
Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 20-26. Sprouse's three-point shooting has proved crucial to the Eagles' success so far this season, as they are 4-0 on their home court in Bender Arena.
Sprouse scored a career-high 26 points in the Eagles' 103-74 win over Hood College on Nov. 26, hitting 7-of-13 from long range to help AU drain a program-record 19 three-pointers. His seven threes tie for seventh all-time in program history in a single game. Earlier in the week, Sprouse scored 11 points in a 68-65 win over Mount St. Mary's. Over the two games, he made 10-of-20 from long range and hit a perfect 5-of-5 at the free-throw line. Sprouse also averaged 3.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game, coming off the bench in both contests.
The Eagles will head to Boston to face Harvard at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, Nov. 29. AU will return home the following game to take on St. Francis at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.Â
