Matt Rogers Named PL Player of the Week; Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For his efforts in a 2-1 week for American University men's basketball, senior forward Matt Rogers has been voted as the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in his career. Rogers is also the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for AUEagles.com.

Rogers averaged 21.3 points per game while leading the Eagles in scoring in all three games played, including a season-high 28 points in a win vs. NJIT on Nov. 16. He scored 19 points in a win over Siena three days earlier, and capped off the week with a 17-point effort in an overtime loss at Georgetown. Rogers hit 25-of-43 from the field (58.1 percent) and 11-of-14 at the line (78.6 percent). He grabbed eight rebounds per game, and had a double-double against NJIT with a game-high 11 rebounds. 

In the Siena win, Rogers posted a career-high four steals. For the week, he finished with six steals and three blocks.

American will play at home in the second game of a women's and men's doubleheader on Wednesday, Nov. 22. The men will tip at 4:30 p.m. against Mount St. Mary's.

*The senior forward scored a season-high 28 points and grabbed 11 boards to record a double-double in a win vs. NJIT.
*He led the Eagles with 17 points and nine boards in an 88-83 overtime loss at Georgetown on Sunday night.

*Alexander averaged 11.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 42.9 (3-of-7) from 3-point range in two games last week.
*The freshman guard scored a career-high 17 points, connecting on 3-of-5 from 3-point range to lead the Terriers to a 95-79 victory over Bryant.
*He finished with six points, two rebounds and an assist in a loss against defending MEAC champion and preseason favorite Howard (64-53).
