Volleyball's Zeynep Uzen Named Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON - After an incredible week that saw her lead American University volleyball to a pair of Patriot League victories, graduate student Zeynep Uzen has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for a second time this season. Uzen was the leader for the Eagles in a 3-1 win vs. Loyola Maryland and a 3-0 sweep of Navy.

For the week, Uzen averaged an impressive 5.14 kills per set and 3.14 digs per set. She recorded her fifth and sixth straight double-doubles and hit .301 overall. Uzen's third dig in the Navy win was the 1,000th of her career, and she became the fourth player in AU history to reach both 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. She led American with 18 kills and 11 digs vs. Loyola, and followed it up with identical numbers of 18 kills and 11 digs in three sets vs. Navy.

American will be on the road for the final time in the regular season to face Lehigh and Lafayette on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28.
