BETHLEHEM, Pa. – On Monday, the Patriot League office announced that senior Mike Bleeker and sophomore Matthew Tibbetts received weekly Patriot League honors. Bleeker was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week and Tibbetts was named the Goalkeeper of the Week.
 
Bleeker was instrumental in helping the Eagles go 2-0 in their last two games, shutting out both Navy and Lehigh. Starting in both games, he was part of a defense that did not allow the Midshipmen a shot in the first half of the game on Wednesday and held Lehigh to five shots the entire game on Saturday.
 
Tibbetts posted his first career clean sheet on Wednesday in American's 1-0 win over Navy and followed it up with another clean sheet on Saturday against Lehigh. Of the only 15 shots that the Eagles' defense let through, Tibbett's only had to make three saves over the two games to secure the two shutouts.
 
For Bleeker, this is his second weekly honor of his career and for Tibbetts, his first.
 
American is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 28 for its final home game of the season, welcoming Army to Reeves.
