Andrea McTaggart Joins Women’s Lacrosse as Assistant Coach

WASHINGTON – Rounding out the coaching staff for Lindsay Teeters is Andrea McTaggart, who comes to American after being an undergraduate and graduate assistant at the University of Maryland.

"I couldn't be more excited to welcome Andrea to the Eagle Lacrosse Family," said Teeters. "Andrea brings a wealth of knowledge about the game, especially on the defensive end. Being part of the Maryland program, she understands the hard work and dedication it takes to be a National Champion and a conference champion. I know she will help raise the level of play and prepare our team to get back to that Patriot League Championship weekend."

While an undergraduate at Maryland, Andrea played all four years (2016-2020) as a defender for the Terrapins. In addition, as an undergraduate and graduate assistant, she worked as a defensive coach working with student athletes to develop and hone skills on the field and assisted coaches in selecting daily drills and collecting in-game stats. She also aided in creating an alumni database and network to make Maryland Women's Lacrosse a better-connected network that would stimulate personal and professional growth within the community.

"I'm so excited to be joining the American University staff and can't wait for a great year ahead," said McTaggart. "What drew me most to American was the competitive environment and welcoming culture that Lindsay and Mary have created here. We have a really dynamic staff with a great group of players, and I can't wait to get started! Go Eagles!"

McTaggart also has coaching experience with the Nation United Women's Lacrosse underclassman team, for which she was the co-head coach. The team focused on inclusion, empowerment, and opportunity within lacrosse. Since 2021, she has worked with the Italia Women's Lacrosse National Development Team as an assistant coach for the u14 and u16 Italian-American lacrosse development teams and worked collectively with a staff to teach and evaluate player skills.

McTaggart is a native of Baltimore and received her Bachelor of Science in special education in 2021 and her Master of Education in special education in 2022.
