WASHINGTON – Rounding out head coach
Sean Graham's coaching staff for Cross Country and Track is
Molly Foster, who ascends to the title of assistant coach after joining the group in September 2021 as a volunteer assistant coach.
"I'm thrilled to have Molly taking on a much greater role with our program this year," said Graham. "She proved invaluable as a volunteer last year and has already been a great benefit to the team in this larger capacity this year for the athletes and staff! Her experience athletically, academically, and personally is a big boost for the development of our student-athlete's careers at American."
Foster, a native of Sebastopol, California, ran cross country and track for Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. She competed at the 2018 West Coast Conference Cross Country Championships, and at competitive track meets up and down the West Coast in events ranging from the 400m hurdles, to the 1500m, to the Steeplechase. She was a cross country representative for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), helping to organize and participate in community events throughout the year. While at Gonzaga, Foster majored in History and English, with minors in Spanish, Classics, and Dance, making the Dean's or President's Lists every semester.
"Having the opportunity to work with these determined and passionate athletes last year as a volunteer, and this year as an assistant coach, has been such a gift," said Foster. "I feel so lucky to pass along my knowledge and experience, while also learning from these athletes every day. I can't wait to see the how the teams progress throughout the year."
Foster is a second-year graduate student in the Public History Master's program at American University. In addition to coaching, she works for the Jewish Studies Program at American and for Moment Magazine.
