WASHINGTON - The MVP of the Patriot League Women's Basketball Championship was a slam dunk for GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week, and senior
Emily Fisher earns that honor for a second time this season.
Fisher helped lead American to its third PL title in program history, and the Eagles will play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament later this week. Fisher earned her all-tournament team spot and MVP honor after finishing with eight points, seven rebounds and four assists in the 65-54 win over Bucknell in the championship game. Three days earlier, Fisher scored a career-high 25 points in AU's 70-48 semifinal win over Boston University, hitting 11-of-14 from the free throw line and 6-of-10 from the field. In the Eagles' quarterfinal win over Lafayette, Fisher scored 10 points and grabbed eight boards.
AU earned a 14-seed in the NCAA Tournament and will travel to third-seeded and 12th-ranked Michigan for a first-round game on Saturday, March 19.
