WASHINGTON - After helping lead American University women's basketball to a perfect 3-0 week to secure a first-round bye for the Eagles in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament, Ivy Bales has been named the GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week.

Bales was a key defensive presence for American in its two wins over Lehigh and one win at Loyola Maryland. She earned back-to-back career-highs with eight rebounds against Lehigh on Tuesday and Wednesday, and tied her career-high with 10 points on Wednesday. Bales also tied her career-best with two blocks against the Mountain Hawks.

The sophomore guard came back on Saturday and tied another career-high with four steals during the win over Loyola Maryland. In the three games, she averaged 7.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg, and led the team with eight steals and three blocks.

AU closes out the regular season at home vs. Lafayette on Wednesday, March 2, and will host a PL quarterfinal on Monday, March 7.
