WASHINGTON - American University women's basketball senior Emily Fisher has been named the GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 7-13 after helping lead her team to a pair of wins.

Fisher posted two of her grittiest performances of the season in helping lead the Eagles to home wins over Bucknell, 56-48, and Boston University, 70-57. The point guard combined for 20 points and nine assists between the two games, and gave up only three combined turnovers in 73 minutes of play.

Of her eight points against the Bison were six early in the third quarter, sparking a 20-9 run to retake the lead and build a seven-point cushion that held through Bucknell's renewed push in the final 10 minutes. Fisher returned to score a dozen in Saturday's 13-point win over Boston University, including six of AU's 11 points in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles are on the road this week with trips to Navy on Wednesday and Army West Point on Saturday. They'll be back in Bender to host Lehigh in back-to-back games on Tuesday, February 22, at 3 p.m., and Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m.
