WASHINGTON – American University men's soccer team will head to Colgate University on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. for the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament. American enters the tournament as the sixth seed while Colgate enters as the third seed.

INSIDE THE SERIES

• American leads the all-time series 12-8-5, winning the last two matchups against the Raiders.
• The two squads have faced each other four times in the Patriot League Tournament, one time in the quarterfinals, once in the semifinals and twice in the Championship.
• The last time American and Colgate met in the postseason was on Nov. 6, 2018. Colgate won that meeting 3-2 to advance to the tournament semifinals.
• American defeated Colgate 3-0 in the two squads regular season meeting. Junior Ethan Boyle netted two goals for the Eagles while sophomore Dilane Zouantcha netted the Eagles other goal of the game. American is the only team to defeat the Raiders in regular season conference play this season.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN

• The Eagles finished the 2022 season with a 6-6-5 overall record and a 3-4-2 mark in Patriot League play. They are coming off a 1-0 loss to Navy on Wednesday, Nov. 2 to close out Patriot League regular season action.
• Junior Robbie Matei leads the Eagles in goals with four. Freshman Troy Elgersma leads the team in assists with four.
• Sophomore Dominic Dominguez, junior Lorenzo Gordon and freshman Matthew Tibbetts have all split time in goal this season. Tibbetts has started the last two games for American.
• American had five athletes selected to the Patriot League Postseason All-League teams. Junior Robbie Matei, junior Evan Schweickert and junior Cooper Nunn were named Second Team honorees while sophomore Zemi Rodriguez and junior Mike Bleeker were named to the Third Team.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT COLGATE

• Colgate finished the regular season with a 7-3-7 overall record and a 3-1-5 mark in Patriot League play. The Raiders closed out the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 2 with a 3-1 win over Lehigh in Bethlehem.
• Junior Aidan Davock leads the Raiders in goals with five, and freshman Cason Stafford leads in assists with four.
• Junior Andrew Cooke has been the primary starter in goal for the Raiders this season. He has seen action in 15 games and has recorded three shutouts and 47 saves.  
• The Raiders had two athletes selected to the Patriot League Postseason All-League teams. Junior Aidan Davock and sophomore Alejandro Coury were named to the league's Second Team and Third Team, respectively.
