Women's Soccer Welcomes Boston U. on Saturday

WASHINGTON – American University women's soccer hosts Boston U. on Saturday, Oct. 8 for a 2 p.m. matchup at Reeves. The Terriers are on a three-game win streak and are recently coming off a 1-0 win over #25 Harvard, while American searches for its first Patriot League win of the season.

  • American has only one more home game this season, at matchup with Colgate on Sunday, Oct. 16. The game will be the program's senior day.
 
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT BOSTON U.
  • Boston U. enters Saturday's Patriot League matchup with a 7-6 overall record and a 3-1 mark in Patriot League play.
  • The program is coming off a 1-0 win over #25 Harvard on Tuesday. Junior Abigail McNulty netted the lone goal for Boston U. in the program's first win over a team ranked in the top 25 since Aug. 24, 2014 when they beat No. 19 Boston College, 2-1.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Celia Braun has not allowed a goal in 308:24 minutes, spanning five games. The Terriers have recorded three-straight shut outs and has not allowed a goal in its last 2013:38 minutes, stretching over the last four games.
  • Redshirt senior Amy Thompson leads Boston U. in goal with a team-high four while McNulty leads in assists with a team-high three.
  • Thompson was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for the second-straight week.
  • After Saturday's game, the Terriers will stay on the road for a midweek game on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Holy Cross.
 
NATIONAL TEAM CALL-UP
  • Senior Alysa Vazquez has been called up to the Costa Rica National Team for training camp from Oct. 3 until Oct. 11, including two international matches against the Philippines on Oct. 7 and Oct. 11.

  • AU Athletics has partnered with Gregorio's Trattoria to provide an enhanced concessions menu for all home weekend men's and women's soccer contests at Reeves this fall.  The gates to Reeves Field, and the Gregorio's grill station will open one hour prior to kickoff at each remaining Saturday and Sunday afternoon home games this fall. 
  • Fans can enjoy Gregorio's favorites from the grill station to the left of the Reeves Field bleachers including menu selections of freshly grilled burgers, Italian sausage and peppers, all-beef hot dogs, and a selection of cold Pepsi and Gatorade beverages.
