Wrestling Drops Dual to Drexel, 26-16

WASHINGTON - Four wins including two bonus-point victories were earned by American University wrestlers, but it wasn't enough as the Eagles fell 26-16 to Drexel on Sunday afternoon at Bender Arena.

Notable

After an unfortunate forfeit for American at 125 pounds, the action got off to a strong start as Jack Maida pulled out the victory for AU at 133.
Maida locked up riding time against Jaxon Maroney by the end of the second period, which later proved crucial as he won the match 5-4.
At 149 pounds, Patrick Ryan tied up his bout vs. Tyler Williams with two near fall points in the second period, and later scored an escape and a penalty point for a 4-2 win by decision.
The 157-pound match was nearly headed to overtime as Antonio Segura trailed 1-0 but had riding time. In the final seconds, #32 Parker Kropman got the takedown and put Segura's time under one minute, winning 3-0.
Tim Fitzpatrick, who finished with two wins for the day, got his first in the team dual by major decision against Michael Martinak. He scored four takedowns and a reversal in addition to riding time for an 11-3 victory.
Fitzpatrick later earned a win by fall in 2:59 against Riley Onorato in an extra countable match.
The team dual ended on a high note for AU with Isaac Righter getting a pin against Drexel's Eli Anthony in 2:30. Righter now has a team-high five pins for the season.
