Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls to Boston University

WASHINGTON – After remaining competitive for most of the game against Boston University on Monday night, American University men's basketball surrendered a late surge to the Terriers and fell 79-53.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Boston U. raced out to an 18-5 lead in the first six minutes of the game.
  • The Terriers pushed their lead to as many as 17 in the first half.
  • Marvin Bragg splashed a 3-pointer to put the Eagles within 10 with 3:44 to go but Boston U. went into the locker room with a 42-29 lead.
  • Elijah Stephens had a steal and an impressive layup in transition to cut Boston's lead to 46-38 with 16:53 to play.
  • That was as close as AU would get as its six-man rotation grew tired down the stretch.
  • Boston U. closed the game on a 25-8 run to take the victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • In 18 minutes off the bench, Josh Alexander scored 12 points, his first double-figure performance since scoring 14 in the season-opener on Nov. 9. He also went 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
  • Elijah Stephens matched his career-high with three steals and added six points.
  • Boston U. managed 15 fast break points compared to zero for American.
UP NEXT
  • American is scheduled to travel north to face Holy Cross on Thursday at 7 pm.
