WASHINGTON - When it counted the most, senior Helena Elbaek stepped up for American University volleyball and powered the Eagles to a regular-season finish that earned them a spot in the 2020-21 Patriot League Championships. For her efforts, Elbaek has earned the title of GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks.

In a must-win match at Navy on Sunday, March 28, Elbaek exploded for 20 kills to keep the Eagles' season alive with a 3-1 victory. She made it her second double-double of the season, adding 10 digs. She hit .224 and totaled 21 points by getting two block assists.

Two nights earlier, Elbaek led all players with 22 kills in a 3-1 win at Loyola Maryland. The Eagles needed both wins to get the league's fourth-seed in the four-team tournament that will be hosted by Colgate on April 2-3.
