WASHINGTON - On Friday, February 5, the American University Department of Athletics & Recreation made the decision to pause all athletic activities for a minimum 10-day period following a slight increase in the department's COVID-19 positivity rate. This action is being taken out of an abundance of caution, in accordance with current protocols and in the best interest of the health and safety of all student-athletes, coaches and staff.

The pause encompasses all on-campus athletic activity including games, team practices and training.  During the pause all student-athletes, coaches and staff will continue to participate in the university testing protocol and affected staff and student-athletes will abide by DC quarantine regulations.  The Department of Athletics in consultation with University medical personnel will utilize data from continued surveillance testing to determine the appropriate time to resume activities.
