WASHINGTON - For leading American University men's basketball in scoring in the Eagles' only game of the week at George Mason, sophomore Johnny O'Neil has been named the GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week.

O'Neil scored a team-high 15 points and also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in AU's 67-44 loss at Mason. He hit 5-of-8 from the field including 2-of-4 from long range.

American's scheduled game on Dec. 28 vs. Siena was canceled, and the Eagles will next be in action in their Patriot League opener vs. Lehigh at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1.
