INSIDE THE SERIES
  • This is the first meeting between the Dukes and Eagles since 1976. DU leads the overall series 18-2, including a 10-0 mark in Pittsburgh.
  • American last topped Duquesne on Feb. 12, 1973, winning a high-scoring affair 109-94.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
  • American is looking for its first win since Nov. 12 when they head to Pittsburgh to face Duquesne. After going 2-0 to start the season, AU has dropped four straight, including three losses of 22 points or more.
  • Matt Rogers has played well on the offensive end of the floor in back-to-back games. He matched his then career-high in points against Western Carolina, before setting a new career-high in points the very next game against UMBC (14) in his first career start. The 6-9 sophomore is really finding his groove in year two. Also, he was AAU teammates with first-year GW transfer, Lincoln Ball.
  • Through the first month of the season, American has been dealing with the injury bug. Valuable contributors Christian Lorng and Ben Lubarsky have yet to suit up this season, while Connor Nelson and Josh Alexander have both missed games this season already. American has employed three different starting fives through six games.
  • Elijah Stephens made his first four field goals, including his first career 3-pointer, on Tuesday against UMBC, scoring nine points. The 5-9 dynamic guard has brought some energy to the rotation on both ends of the floor. He already has a game with six assists and one with three steals.
  • After a summer spent training and playing with the U-20 Italian national team, Lorenzo Donadio has given Coach Brennan valuable minutes off the bench as of late. The 6-4 guard from Rome grabbed nine rebounds in the first two games at the Jerome Kersey Classic and also added three blocks.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT DUQUESNE
  • DU has dropped its past two home games (to Hofstra and Weber State). Despite the two losses, Duquesne is 43-19 at home under Keith Dambrot, including a 22-6 mark in non-conference games. The Dukes are 14-4 in non-conference home games - including wins at four different "home" venues since 2018-19.
  • The Dukes are coming off a 78-70 win over Bradley last Monday. DU, led by Leon Ayers III 23 points off the bench, had five double-digit scorers in their top shooting day of the young season (.483).
  • First-year TCU transfer Kevin Easley Jr. has scored in double digits in five of DU's first six games. Easley Jr. leads the Dukes with a 12.7 ppg. scoring average and 10 3-pointers (.455). Easley Jr. is one of four Dukes averaging in double figures: Tre Williams (12.0), Primo Spears (11.3) and Leon Ayers III (10.7) are the others.
