FARMVILLE, Va. – American University men's basketball struggled from start to finish in an 82-42 defeat on Friday evening against Longwood.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • AU gave up five turnovers in the first three minutes of action and trailed 22-4 after 11 minutes.
  • Matt Rogers got a bucket to cut the deficit to 15 and then Connor Nelson picked up a steal, which looked it could be the start of a run for the Eagles. But three straight missed triples by AU allowed Longwood to continue its impressive run.
  • The first half ended with Longwood on top, 38-17.
  • It was more of the same in the second half as Longwood extended its lead to as many as 48 points at one point.
  • Johnny O'Neil hit AU's first 3-pointer with six minutes remaining in the game. The Eagles ended with three made triples.
  • American's reserves closed the game on a 12-4 run to make the final score 82-42 in favor of the Lancers.
BY THE NUMBERS
