WASHINGTON - After an incredible pair of performances for American University women's basketball in the Eagles' opening games of 2020-21, junior Jade Edwards has been named the GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week. Edwards is the first recipient since March of 2020, after AU sports shut down for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Edwards tallied a double-double with 13 rebounds to go with a career-high 31 points in AU's second game of the weekend at Lehigh, an 89-71 loss for the Eagles. She smashed through her previous best by shooting 11-for-19 from the field and 8-for-10 from the line. In a 79-70 loss two days earlier, Edwards led the Eagles with 16 points off 6-for-10 shooting from the floor. She added a team-high five steals, four rebounds and four assists.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 17 at Navy.
