WASHINGTON - American University men's basketball welcomes local rival Loyola University Maryland for the 98th installment of the series on Wednesday night inside Bender Arena with a chance to move into second place in the Patriot League standings on the line.

  • American earned a hard-fought 93-91 overtime win over Loyola last month.
  • In games played in Washington, AU holds a 25-12 advantage.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
  • The Eagles have won three of their last four games after topping Navy and Army last week.

  • To reach 2,000 career points and become just the third Eagle to do so, Sa'eed needs 42 points. 
  • Sa'eed now stands at 495 assists and needs 11 helpers to pass Mike Sampson (1984-1988) and move into third place on AU's career assists list. 
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT LOYOLA
  • Loyola is currently riding a three-game winning streak after beating Bucknell at home on Saturday.
  • The Greyhounds have been sparked by current Patriot League Rookie of the Week Santi Aldama's return from injury, as he averaged 11 ppg in last week's wins. 
  • Andrew Kostecka, who scored 32 points in the first matchup this season, leads the league in scoring with 21.0 ppg. He also leads the team with 5.3 rpg. 
  • Kevaughn Scott shoots an efficient 59.5 percent from the field to lead the team.
  • Kenneth Jones leads the league by shooting 43.4 percent from three-point range.
