COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the 50th semester in a row, both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams at American University were named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The women's team compiled a team GPA of 3.69 for the fall of 2019, ranking in a tie for seventh-highest among all NCAA Division I teams. The AU men's GPA of 3.48 is tied for 14th among NCAA Division I programs.
"To go 25 years without missing a semester is truly remarkable," said AU's Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Billy Walker. "Coach Mark Davin and his staff really ensure that our swimmers and divers take their academic pursuits seriously, and the results speak for themselves. There is a true culture of academic success that is passed down through the upperclassmen each year, and we're so proud to have these student-athletes representing AU Athletics."
The CSCAA selected a record 762 programs from 480 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2019 semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their Fall 2019 grade point averages and represent 17,685 student-athletes.
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA – the oldest organization of college coaches in America – is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.
