WASHINGTON - Just over 48 hours removed from a tough loss to league leader Colgate, American University men's basketball will be right back in action in a nationally-televised game on CBS Sports Network against Lehigh on Monday night inside Bender Arena.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Lehigh has won 10 straight games against American, including a victory in Bethlehem, 82-73, earlier this month.
- The Mountain Hawks flew out to a 15-2 lead out of the gate and didn't trail the rest of the way.
- The last AU victory in the series came on March 5, 2015 when the Eagles won in Bethlehem during the Patriot League tournament, 68-62.
- Coach Brennan won four of his first five matchups against the Mountain Hawks from Jan. 15, 2014 to March 5, 2015.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- AU had a three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday at home against Colgate.
- Sa'eed Nelson had his third straight 21-point game and also added a team-high four steals and eight rebounds.
- American found itself on top for most of the first half, but a 24-4 run spanning the end of the first half and beginning of the second gave Colgate a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
- American picked up its first overtime win since November 2018 against Loyola on Wednesday. Six players scored in double figures, the first time that's happened since 2004.
- The Eagles have used the same starting five for 18 straight games.
- Jamir Harris leads the Patriot League in free-throw percentage (95.3). He has also made 17 straight freebies since Jan. 5 against Boston U.
- The Eagles are among the PL leaders in several categories, including scoring (4th, 71.6), blocks (3rd, 3.3/game), and steals (1st, 7.5).
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT LEHIGH
- Lehigh has dropped four straight games, including a 74-56 loss to Lafayette on Saturday.
- The Mountain Hawks have struggled on the road as of late, losing 11 straight away from Bethlehem.
- Lehigh shoots 77.0 percent from the free-throw line, good for 2nd in the league.
- Jordan Cohen, who scored 25 points and dished out eight assists in the first meeting, leads the way with 15.4 ppg.
