WASHINGTON - American University men's basketball will conclude a stretch of four road trips in five games when they take on Lehigh Saturday night at 7 pm inside Stabler Arena

INSIDE THE SERIES
  • Lehigh currently holds a nine-game winning streak over American.
  • The last AU victory in the series came on March 5, 2015 when the Eagles won in Bethlehem during the Patriot League tournament, 68-62.
  • Coach Brennan won four of his first five matchups against the Mountain Hawks from Jan. 15, 2014 to March 5, 2015.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • The Eagles earned a decisive victory over Army on Wednesday night to win their second straight game. It's the first winning streak of the season for American.
  • Sa'eed Nelson moved up two lists with his performance against the Black Knights. After scoring 12 points and nabbing two steals, Nelson is now ninth on the Patriot League career scoring list (1,786) and third on AU's career steals list (232).
  • Mark Gasperini dropped a season-high 19 points against Army, including two huge buckets down the stretch to give AU the lead for good.
  • The Eagles have used the same starting five (S. Nelson, Harris, Boonyasith, Beckton Jr., Gasperini) for 13 straight games.
  • American ranks near the top of the Patriot League in several categories, including: 3-point FG% (3rd, 34.9), steals (1st, 7.3/game), and scoring offense (4th, 70.2 ppg).
  • Jamir Harris leads the Patriot League in free-throw percentage (94.1).
  • S. Nelson leads the league in minutes played (35.2/game) and steals/game (2.85). His steals/game also ranks fifth in D-I.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
  • The Mountain Hawks have opened PL play with a 1-2 mark after falling to Boston University on the road, 84-67, on Wednesday night.
  • Prior to a victory over Loyola Maryland last week, Lehigh had dropped eight straight games while facing a brutal non-conference slate that included road games at reigning Final Four squad Auburn and perennial West Coast power, Saint Mary's (Calif.).
  • Lehigh is a strong defensive team, holding teams to 42.1% shooting and 30.4% from three, which both rank second in the PL.
  • The Mountain Hawks are led offensively by 1,000-point scorer Jordan Cohen (13.9 ppg, 4.1 apg, 1.6 spg) and James Karnik (12.4 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.1 bpg).
  • Brett Reed is in his 13th season as the coach at Lehigh and has brought unprecedented success to Bethlehem. He is the winningest coach in program history and has guided the Mountain Hawks to three national postseason appearances.
OTHER GAME NOTES
  • American is looking for its first victory on a Saturday this season as they are currently 0-5 on Saturdays.
  • A win would give the Eagles their longest winning streak since taking four straight victories from Jan. 23, 2019 to Feb. 2, 2019.
