Men's Soccer Falls in PL Opener to Lehigh 2-1

WASHINGTON — Nick Dimitrijevic scored his first goal of the season, but Lehigh held on for a 2-1 victory to open PL play on Saturday. 

Postgame Notes

  • At halftime, members of the 1979 team that reached the NCAA Quarterfinals were honored at midfield along with Debbie Dugan, the wife of the late Doug Dugan. 
  • At the conclusion of the match, Oscar McConnell was named the 2019 recipient of the Doug Dugan Excellence Award.
  • The Mountain Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute on Michael Tahiru's first goal from Andrew White. 
  • Lehigh added its second goal in the 50th minute of play by Natan Rosen from Trevor Koski. 
  • American cut the deficit in the 75th minute on Dimitrijevic's goal from Trey Echazarreta. 
  • Jake Agnew made seven saves for American while Lehigh's Will Smith had three saves.
