WASHINGTON - The American University field hockey team (3-4) dominated most of the game, but still fell to UC Davis (4-2) at home on Thursday, 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies capitalized off their first of three penalty corner opportunities during the match, with Tatiana Arias tapping in the deflection off an assist from Madison Theodore.
- The Eagles controlled the tempo of the game, though, putting up 13 shots and earning eight penalty corners.
- Junior Noor Coenen headed up AU's offensive efforts with nine shots, including five on target, while sophomore Aidan Rossman put up two, and freshmen Charllene Boshoff and Megan Hoffman added one each.
- The Eagles' defensive line stayed strong throughout the game, disrupting a number of UC Davis runs and limiting the Aggies to only four shots.
NEXT UP
The Eagles will a bit of a respite before returning home on Saturday, Sept. 28, to open Patriot League play with a noon start against Bucknell. They will make a quick turnaround and be back at Jacobs on Sunday, Sept. 29, for a 2 p.m. game against Georgetown.
