WASHINGTON - American University women's soccer head coach Anabel Hering will leave the university to pursue other professional opportunities, announced Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Billy Walker on Tuesday.

Hering, who just finished her seventh season as head coach at American, directed the team to an overall 6-8-4 record in 2019 and the Eagles finished 10th in the Patriot League. 

"We thank Anabel for her commitment and contributions to our women's soccer program as a student-athlete, assistant coach and head coach," said Dr. Walker. "We certainly wish her and her family well in the future and appreciate her service to our university."

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
