WASHINGTON - After 10 days off, the American University men's basketball team will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 26, hosting city rival Howard (0-7) at 7 p.m. The Eagles (1-3) look to bounce back after a narrow loss at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Nov. 16 and get their first win at Bender Arena in the 2019-20 season.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • In its most recent game, AU lost a late lead at Saint Francis as the Red Flash converted 2-of-3 free throws with three seconds left before getting a rebound and putback to hand the Eagles a 79-76 loss.
  • The Eagles played William & Mary in their home opener on Nov. 8 but have not been back home since.
  • AU got its first win of the year at GW on Nov. 12 with a Sa'eed Nelson game-winning, buzzer-beating jumper.
  • Nelson leads American with 19 points per game (third in the Patriot League) and is shooting 50 percent from the field.
  • Three others also average in double figures in scoring for AU. Jamir Harris, who hit 6-of-9 three-pointers at Saint Francis, averages 15.5 ppg and has hit 11-of-12 free throws.
  • Jacob Boonyasith is averaging 12.5 ppg and Stacy Beckton Jr. has a team-best seven rebounds per game to go with 11.3 ppg.
  • Nelson, the PL Preseason Player of the Year for a second year in a row, has 1,637 points and recently moved into sixth all-time in the AU record books. He needs 19 more points to move into fifth place.
  • The Eagles currently rank second in the PL in three statistical categories: 73.2 ppg, 45.4 percent field-goal shooting and 39.5 percent three-point field-goal shooting. The Eagles lead all teams in the PL with 4.3 blocks per game.
  • American was picked third in the PL Preseason Poll. The Eagles finished the 2018-19 season tied for fourth.
SCOUTING THE BISON
  • Howard has played a lot of contests early in the season but has yet to get a W, going 0-7.
  • The Bison have lost their last three contests by an average margin of 34 points per game.
  • Charles Williams is averaging 17.9 points per game to lead Howard, and Kyle Foster is also in double figures in scoring with 10.4 ppg.
  • Zion Cousins has averaged a team-best 5.9 rebounds per game for the Bison.
  • Howard is coming off a 17-17 season and an appearance in the CBI Tournament.
  • The Bison have a new head coach this season in Kenneth Blakeney. Howard was picked to finish sixth in the 11-team MEAC in 2019-20.
