Men's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day With 2-0 Home Win

WASHINGTONNick Dimitrijevic and Fabio Massaro scored in the second half to lead the American University men's soccer team over Army West Point, 2-0, on Saturday at Reeves Field.

  • American sits in the PL standings with 10 points and at the time of this article release are in fifth place. American can finish as high as fourth with a win against Loyola and two losses by Lafayette. 
  • The win for American is the first home win of the season and the first Reeves Field victory for first-year head coach Zach Samol.
  • American dominated play in the second half, as each team needing points in the PL standings played conservative through the opening 45 minutes.
  • American struck first in the 50th minute as Nick Dimitrijevic stole the ball from an Army defender and made a rush towards goal for his team-leading third goal of the season. 
  • The Eagles added their second goal 10 minutes later on a penalty kick goal by Fabio Massaro.
  • The Eagles outshot the Black Knights 10-8 with keeper Jake Agnew collecting four saves for his second clean sheet of the year.
