WASHINGTON — Emily Smith scored on a penalty kick, but the American University women's soccer team fell to Army West Point 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Reeves Field.

• Morgan Walsh scored the games opening goal for Army West Point in the 11th minute off a header sent in by Sydney Shafer. 
• The Cadets added a second goal off a corner kick that was deflected in off an American defender near the post.
• Emily Smith got American on the board in the 16th minute with a penalty kick past Sydney Cassalia. 
• Lauren Drysdale added Army's third goal off a penalty kick in the 78th minute. 
• Ryleigh Brown made two saves in the first half before Morgan Lang replaced her and made three save in the second.
• Cassalia stopped three American attempts. 
• American finished with a 12-11 edge in shots.
