Efficient Iowa Offense Beats Eagles

WASHINGTONAleksandra Kazala led AU with 10 kills, but Iowa's offense got rolling to lift the Hawkeyes to a 25-21, 25-17, 25-15 sweep of the Eagles on Saturday in a match of the American Volleyball Classic.

The Eagles, now 6-6 overall, play later Saturday against Howard in a 7 p.m. match.

The Hawkeyes, now 10-2, will try to earn the tournament championship against Princeton at 5 p.m.

Iowa hit .383 in the match, holding a 52-27 edge in kills. The Hawkeyes made only 11 attack errors in a strong offensive performance. Claire Sheehan had 19 kills to lead Iowa offensively.

Kennedy Etheridge had 11 assists, Kristen Largay had 13 digs and Helena Elbaek finished with four blocks for the Eagles.

Full-day tickets for all matches of the American Volleyball Classic are available at the Bender Arena Box Office. General admission seats are $8 for adults and $5 for children. AU students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
