WASHINGTON — The American University wrestling team picked up a comfortable victory over George Mason, 27-9, on Friday evening at Bender Arena.

The Eagles are now 5-8 overall for the season as they head into the final match of the regular season while the Patriots close out the travel portion of their schedule at 6-12 overall.

The Eagles picked up three quick victories and led 12-0 heading into the 141-pound match.

At 125 pounds, No. 10 Josh Terao won by technical fall over #31 Ibrahim Banduka (17-0) in 3:32. In the 133-point weight class, No. 26 Esteban Gomez-Rivera won by major decision over Lio Quezada. It took three overtime periods for Jack Mutchnick to secure a 3-2 decision over #31 Tejon Anthony.

Seniors Tom Page (157), Cole Moseley (165) and Jason Grimes (184) all picked up wins for the Eagles.

No. 29 Jeric Kasunic got a 6-0 decision at 197 pounds. 

George Mason got three wins over the Eagles. Sahid Kargbo defeated Michael Sprague at 149 pounds, Ryan Forrest took a 2-1 decision over Joe Salvi and Matt Voss won in the heavyweight class over Brett Dempsey. 

American will travel to Ohio for a dual with the Bobcats on Sunday.
