Box Score PHILADELPHIA — The American Univerisity men's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie with Penn on Friday evening at Rhodes Field. Senior Chris Fanet and junior Joel Hart scored 10 minutes apart for the Eagles.
The contest saw five cards and 27 total shots with American coming away with the 14-13 advantage. Both keepers were relatively busy, as the Eagles put 10 shots on goal towards Penn's Etan Mabourakh and AU senior Lucas Belanger had four saves on six attempts.
The Quakers got on the board in the 37th minute off a serve by Matt Poplawski over to Sam Wancowicz, who scored to the low left post.
American tied the contest five minutes later off a corner kick taken by junior Danny Kaiser that found the boot of Fanet.
AU took a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute on a breakaway by Hart. The goal developed off a feed to the right flank by freshman Max Holdsworth.
The American lead lasted less than a minute, as Alec Neumann scored on a penalty kick.
American will head back to D.C. before heading to Dallas to take on No. 25 SMU on Sunday.
