Box Score

TAMPA — Senior Joe Iraola scored his second goal of the season as the American University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 (2OT) draw with No. 19/17 South Florida on Monday evening.

"I was disappointed with the result but happy with the performance by the team," said head coach Todd West. "Credit to USF keeper Spasoje Stefanovic, who had a great game in net."

American (1-0-1) held a 24-11 edge in shots forcing Spasoje Stefanovic to make nine saves. The Eagles owned the first half and took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted tally by Iraola in the 25th minute. Iraola beat a USF defender and hit the back of the net from 18 yards away.

The Bulls tied the contest in the 62nd minute on a penalty kick converted by Michael Bajza.

American will head back to the Mid-Atlantic and travel to Penn on Friday before meeting SMU on Sunday.
